Adventure!

After almost a month of no updates--hehe (I blame work!...yeah right =P)

It's been a wild and crazy week! I was forced to do an Amazing Race type adventure just to reach Iloilo! My first day (and first plane ride) was destination: Bacolod--which is incidentally on a different island from Iloilo so I had to take a ferry ride the next day just to meet up with Tin!

It's actually pretty fun going to a place you don't know, not knowing the language, not even sure if you can get a ferry ride to iloilo hehe (I didn't make it that day since I arrived in Bacolod at around 630pm and the last ferry goes at at around 6pm)

I stayed in a seedy pension house while I waited for morning (this is after waiting for several hours in the airport terminal just hoping to get a chance passenger ride to iloilo)

The Supercat (that's the name of the ferry service) ride was amazing! Airconditioned rooms with an onboard movie! I took the movie as a good omen: 50 First Dates...the very first date i had with Tin ^_^

Will write more about my iloilo trip later--it's too long for just one write-up ^_^

Needless to say I ate a LOT of seafoods, had a serious talk with Tin's Parents (wherein I formally ask for permission to marry her) and ate a lot of seafood. =P

This is a sad day...

CCHQ is closing.

Goodbye to the most wonderful place in katipunan.

You will be missed.

Saturday, November 27, 2004

and a happy thanksgiving to you too!

Not that we celebrate that particular holiday or anything--but that just means no work for any call center (except maybe tech support)--so...big yey =P

Just celebrated Carding's Birthday last night --was actually fun --the usual get together with the gang, some drinks, some food (dinner was at Hap Chan west ave for Carding's favorite Soy Tofu---the salt and pepper squid was amazing!!)

Consumed an unhealthy amount of food (2 orders of Yang Chow fried rice!) and still managed to find room for dessert (tried out the new ice cream nuggets by magnolia--yumy but a little bit too much in price for the novelty)

All we missed was Cuppkeyk the group lush hehe--Dong did his usual bartender thing (he made a nice drink with ice tea and some gin and soda)

I can't wait for the 23rd! (thats when i experience my first plane ride hehe) Iloilo here i come!

oh yeah...13th month pay should be coming up soon...(I calculated it and it really aint much)

WATCH NATIONAL TREASURE. Now. (and grab some friends)

One of the best friggin movies for the year!! Kick arse!!

Non-stop action, the pacing was amazing! It only lets you catch your breath for around 2 minutes before starting another insane action sequence; the puzzles were cool and somehow researched enough--(although highly impossible hehe) it's just great the way they tied everything together.

And to think this movie was 2 hours and 10 mins hehe. (Tin went to the restroom twice)

Templar shit. Rock. (am still in rave mode)

I want a copy for the house ^^

Updates--

So it costs around 20k to get married in Alabang...(air conditioned church tho!)

gotta save up!

oh yeah I'm going to Iloilo for christmas ^_^ (my first plane ride! whee!)

Tuesday, November 16, 2004

oh yeah...time to be a little more political:

Powell just sent in his resignation (Rice may take his place--)

Something that needs to be said every now and then:

I love you Tin!

Comics and more comics talk

Check out this new web comic:

It's cute ^_^

Jenny Jetpack!

In other comics news:

The new issue of previews is out so I think I'll begin a list of the comics i want to get but can't really afford to and another list of comics I'll most definitely get regardless ^_^

Despite having a girlfriend who partly owns a comic book shop --it does have it's pros and cons (a drawback is that she always knows how much money you have hehe)

Stuff I want: (some or most of these are already out now)

Avenger's Disassembled (it all starts here!--the old team is dissovled and some avengers die! --like hawkeye finally =P go Bendis!)

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest heroes (a re-telling by Geof Johns and Scott Kollins--amazing art by the former flash artist, interesting take--a must get since it's only a limited series) It's a fun mini series made by DC creators all about a Marvel superteam hehe.

Ex Machina tradepaperback (by Brian K. Vaughn--writer of the hit Y: the Last Man--good stuff considering the current political climate in the states, It's about a superhero who runs for mayor of a major city --new york? i forgot--the art is done by Tony Harris of Starman fame, some of his best work yet!)

Identity Crisis -- If it weren't for the art I'd actually get this. I'm not really a fan of the artist but critics have said that this is best work since hawkman. A highly controversial series where "several" DC heroes die (death toll so far: Sue Dibny, wife of Elongated Man who was raped and murdered--also turns out she was pregnant; Firestorm--apparently shot or something, never really read it yet and Tim Drake's dad--Robin's dad gets hit by Captain Boomerang right in the heart area ow.)
Maybe I'll just wait for the trade.

Vtes Scratchpad:

since I can't access my hotmail on this office account I'll just put my random vtes thoughts into this blog =P

more anarch goodness: (what else is new...I'm still having fun with them hehe)
I haven't even explored the wacky combos and tricks of the Black hand yet! (maybe next year na hehe--)

got this from the ventrue anti-tribu newsletter:

Vampire of the Month: Dominique

Dominique
Clan: Ventrue antitribu (group 2)
Capacity: 7
Disciplines: AUS FOR ani dom vic
Sabbat: As a (D) action, Dominique may put a vandal counter on a
location. If a location has a number of vandal counters equal to its
cost (or 1 vandal counter if it has no cost), burn it.

Dominique Advanced
Clan: Ventrue antitribu (group 2)
Capacity: 7
Disciplines: AUS FOR ani dom vic
Advanced, Sabbat: During your untap phase, you may burn a location you
control to gain X pool, where X is the cost of that location.
[Merged] Independent Anarch Baron of Paris.

Dominique can play nine of the anarch-requiring discipline-based
cards: Diversion, Friend of Mine, Gear Up, Improvised Tactics, Loose
Cannon, The Mole, Principia Discordia, Reformation, and Smash and
Grab. This enables you to prevent damage, reduce a bleed against you,
gain +1 strength, draw an extra card during the press step, cause
aggravated hand damage if blocked, untap to block actions, cause a
bleed by a younger vampire to fail, burn an equipment card, steal a
hunting ground (to use or to gain two pool from!), and burn two life
from an ally or retainer. She's a pretty neat little vampire, really,
and we've not even discussed her discipline spread.

Dominique's AUS and ani make her an especially potent intercept
blocker since she can use the permanent retainers of animalism with
the transitory intercept of auspex. Once she does block, her superior
fortitude will enable her to survive to block another day and her
vicissitude lets her torporize unwary victims so they can't take any
more actions against our clan. Alternatively, you can go forward with
her by combining her AUS and dom to make her a bleeding machine with a
Pulse. Her auspex also comes in handy for croc-tongues and a little
telepathic vote counting. Need I mention that she can Freak Drive? I
thought not.

All told, Dominique is a remarkable vampire, especially when she
becomes an anarch.

Reading that just makes me go wow. hehe ^^

The possibilities!! (this is what really makes me interested in anarchs anyways--the sheer number of OPTIONS) It slices!(bleed) It dices!(combat) It wins games!(votes) Go toolbox! (nasty intercept and blood gain too!)

Rar anarchs! =P

another qoute from the same newsletter:

Card of the Month: Diversion

Diversion
Type: Combat
Requires: anarch Celerity/Fortitude/Thaumaturgy
Requires a ready anarch.
[cel] Gain one additional strike.
[for] Prevent up to 2 damage.
[tha] Strike: ranged. Steal 1 blood with an optional maneuver.

Diversion is almost the only combat card you'll ever need. It enables
extra strikes, damage prevention, and a maneuver (with ranged blood
stealing). Our clan is perfectly positioned to utilize it at every
level, since a selection of our mid-caps have celerity or thaumaturgy.
The only combat attributes diversion doesn't provide (presses and
dodges) are easily obtainable through either auspex or fortitude
(in-clan disciplines for us) for little or no blood. (In the spirit
of intellectual honesty, I have to admit that S:CE isn't available
through this card either, but in these current nights of easily
available intercept, I find it more useful to endure combat and
inflict some harm than to run away from it like a scared little
neonate.)

It has been said that the most attractive feature of anarch decks is
their diversity of options. Diversion is perfectly fitting with that
philosophy. If you're planning to include fortitude damage prevention
cards in a regular deck, you can shift to anarchs and perhaps also
gain extra strikes or blood theft by substituting Diversion for those
prevention cards (depending on your crypt, of course, but celerity is
a widely available discipline; thaumaturgy is a highly valuable one).

In the rare event that you don't need to prevent damage, Diversion is
still cycle-able due to its "up to 2 damage" wording (you can always
prevent 0 damage with it), so it won't even clog your hand.

RULING BY LSJ:

YOU CAN'T PLAY DAMAGE PREVENTION CARDS IF THERE IS NO DAMAGE (paraphrased by me)

so the above statement is incorrect about cycling

Spotlight: Ventrue Antitribu Anarchs

If diversity of disciplines is your goal with an anarch deck, there
are several attractive mid- to high-cap !Ventrue that will be perfect
for your needs. In the mid-cap range, we have Vincent Day, Paladin
and Paragon (5-cap: aus dom for pot tha; extra vote for burning the
edge), Dylan (6-cap: aus cel dom for pro; +1 bleed), and Marlene, The
Infernalist (6-cap: AUS DOM dem for tha; refreshingly non-infernal).
Though not as discipline rich as their clan-mates, you should also
consider Gerard (5-cap: aus dom for obt) and Charice Fontaigne
(6-cap: AUS DOM for pot) since both potence and obtenebration are
quite attractive anarch disciplines.

In the high-cap range, !Ventrue have some highly attractive vampires
to "Go Anarch" with. Of course you're going to be using Dominique,
who at the ADV level is Anarch Baron of Paris, and who is detailed
below; you should also consider Owain Evans, The Wanderer (8-cap: AUS
DOM FOR cel pre; hunting ground for the Methuselahs of your choice).
Both Joseph O'Grady (7-cap: DOM FOR aus cel; burn a blood for a vote,
+1 str) and Edward Neally (7-cap: DOM FOR aus pre; very attractive
specials you should know from former !Ventrue newsletters) are quite
attractive 7-caps for "Firebrand."

If the Ventrue Antitribu had nothing more to give an anarch deck but
disciplines, they'd still be good, but our clan has so much more to
offer. Consider the very attractive !ventrue clan cards.
Demonstration (Master, 1 pool: tap to cancel the votes of any
vampire) is just as great for the Anarch movement as it is for the
Sabbat. Loyalist (reaction usable by a tapped !ventrue: gain 3 votes
against a political action) is equally detrimental to the other
politicians around the table if an anarch plays it. The fantastic
!Ventrue allies, our Political Antagonists (Ally, 2 pool: 1
life/str/bleed; tap to give a !ventrue +1 intercept to block a
political action), are pretty amazing little creatures, really,
considering that they can help you block those pesky votes to remove
your Fee Stakes.

I couldn't have said it better myself. ^_^

Diversion can really convince you to play anarchs just for the sheer versatility.

To anyone who knows me well enough, I really don't like the ventru anti at all. (i really hate them...i don't like their discipline spreads--i find it too defensive, no offense except for dominate)So this will mark a first hehe. I'm going to plan a deck based on ventru anti as anarchs. (if i can find the time)

One good thing about bush winning the elections:

hmm... can't think of any... =P

actually if Kerry won, I'd probably be out of a job--he doesn't like outsourcing so call centers would have been on his hit list.

Not that i like working in a call center myself but hey, it pays for the bills.

will be getting my student driver's permit this wed or thur, hope i can avoid the red tape that goes in any government institution =P (the last time was quick...45 mins to an hour)

Thursday, November 04, 2004

Stuff I need to do:

Get a driver's license (student)
Take a refresher course in driving
Steal enough money to buy a new car. (haha!)
Get a passport (just in case i win a travel package =P)

The new taxi cab fare rates are killing me! (my wallet mostly =P)

More geekness:

Am currently having fun reading comics blogs (yes there are actually several blogs on nothing but comics)

Very entertaining reading (if you're a fanboy)--lots of insider information since some of these people are retailers, lots of comic reviews--saves me a lot of trouble on finding out if a certain title that just came out is worth buying or not (very important if you're on a budget hehe) ^_^

I can just literally spend hours reading one blog. Progressive Ruin has a TON of links and blog links on everything comics related. Cool site!

In other news:

Just got an advance monthsary gift:

Lit Riffs

Writers "cover" songs they love
edited by Matthew Miele

cool stuff in the tradition of Lester Bangs daw =P

Yes I have a cool girlfiend ^^ (i love you hun!)

Back! after a bout of tonsilitis!

feel's like I just a had a week's vacation ^_^ no work! yey! (no pay though =P)

I'm really sick of the call center industry. I want out!

Hopefully my application to ABS-CBN goes through...(that training thing here at work didn't pan out well >_<)

I'd quit in a minute if I weren't the default bread winner for the family (it's just me and my mom right now) someone has to pay the bills =P

on another note:

Taxi fares are killing me! must get driver's license soon!

Then again the car in the garage ain't going anywhere unless someone pushes it.

I am going insane. stress stress stress (and to think I only worked for 1 day last week!)

On a positive note:

I've having the time of my life with Tin ^_^ Everyday is a new adventure for us-- places to see, new tastes, experiences etc. Really fun. (even if it's just staying at home and napping^^) Falling in love more and more everyday...

Too busy to update...

Actually I just can't find the internet time to do this...(maybe by next week when everything's settled--)

a lot of things have happened (some fun, some not so), what's new with you?

All i know is that I love Tin and that's all that matters.

Monday, October 25, 2004

Woo! update!

Yes it's been a while. =P

Check out Tin's blog for updates on what's been happening for the past 2 weeks or so ^_^

It's our monthsary--happy 7th to us!

More updates to follow...

=P

wow--decadent weekend =P

Tried out the Sunday Lunch Buffet at Wasabi (Makati Ave)--it was awesome! The dessert section was trylu amazing...I love the Creme Mocha thingy (coffee-mocha flan)
and the mango crepe was yummy! Yes i pigged out =P

We also went to Eastwood for dinner last saturday ^_^

Dinner was Italian Chicken at Fazoli's (kinda like a Sbarros place) and dessert was
at Floyd's (a very excellent Ice Cream place--Smoosh!)

It's funny because the whole eastwood thing was totally spontaneous. ^_^

We were headed home after a very relaxing spa (love that steam room) when we just decided to head over to eastwood (right before turning to santolan)

A very unexpected and yet quite welcome detour ^_^

Hopefully my commission arrives today so I can treat my hunny to a nice dinner at Chocolate Kiss (she's been dropping hints since last month--we keep postponing it for some reason or another)

Also visited an Interior Decorating exhibit (PSID--phil school for interior design) at the Paseo Center--Ang Galing!
The theme was movies! Each design team had to incorporate motifs and design styles from selected scenes--some booths were amazing. (the area was around 25-35 sqm. per booth)

My favorite exhibits:

Hero (oriental themed bathroom--i want!)
Breakfast at Tifanny's (super retro-pop kitchen--cheerful-funky!)
Tomb Raider (a living room Lara Croft can lounge around ^^)

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend with Tin. I want more please. (less spending and less eating tho haha!)

I really believe that if there's any kind of God, he wouldn't be in any one of us---not you, not me, but just in the space in between. If there's some magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone else, sharing something. Even if it's almost impossible to succeed, but who cares, the answer must be in the attempt.

Lateral Movement...

I've applied for the position of Subject Matter Expert (trainer for short) here at the company...my teaching demo starts tom! hopefully i make it. Ok lang kung hinde (I get no frickin pay raise-- they call it lateral movement =P)

If I do get accepted, it makes me part of management (small time pa rin) but that also means I don't get any spiffs or commissions (although it opens up lots of potential for growth and development...)

If I'm not accepted, it's also ok. (there's no pay raise anyways)

will see what tomorrow brings...(of course I'm still hoping for the best)

Sunday Mornings ^_^

Went over to Tin's place for what would have been a fun sunday outing (we were planning a lot of activites like movies, lunch, malling, dinner etc) only to find out that she was coming down with something...(at least I managed to get her some orange juice)

All in all it was still time well spent--took care of my sick Tin as best as I could, watched TV and napped a bit in the afternoo. Still a very pleasant way to spend a sunday ^_^

I want more lazy day sundays like this.

Far out roadtrip!

We missed the ceremony! We barely managed to make it on time for the reception.

and here's why:

We got lost. hahaha!

Ended up in friggin NASUGBO, BATANGAS!!!

(this is after we drove around in Festival Mall, Alabang Town Center, Splash Island, Taal Volcano Tagaytay! and a wonderful lunch at Josephine's)

So let's see, we covered Las Pinas, Alabang, Tagaytay and Batangas. Too bad the wedding was held in Cavite >_< (yes we went around the friggin place)

We just kept on driving straight down the road, took us about 40 mins before realizing that we were lost. >_<

Along the way we picked up some Buko Pie, Cashews, Peanuts, Apple flavored Lambanog, and some NY fries. lol!

We dragged our sore and tired butts home at around 7pm (coastal road--I wanted to make a side trip to baywalk or malate but I was voted down)

That was fun hehe. (a very fun way to celebrate 6 months with Tin ^^)

Maybe we can schedule another one in October ^_^

Road trip!!

Jasmine (mutual friend namin ni Tin)is getting married this saturday (sept 25)-- which also happens to be Me and Tin's 6th monthsary thingy ^_^

The wedding takes place in Cavite so it's our very first out of town road trip!
Normally it's hard to plan a road trip since neither one of us knows how to drive (actually I do but I don't have a license yet =P) but we've managed to procure the driving services of Dong and Carding (for free! mwehehe)

Ceremony starts at 2pm so we have the entire morning to wander around the southern lands hehe.

Maybe we can sneak in a trip to Festival Mall, Alabang Town Center, Tagaytay (mushroom burger, sonia's garden etc) and other exotic locales in the southern provinces.

Dong is offended that I call Las Pinas, Alabang etc as provinces (heck anything beyond Magallanes is a province for me na) but _anything_ with a friggin toll booth constitutes as povincial to me =P

This promises to be a fun trip! (similar to the glee I've experienced when it was time for our class field trips back in highschool)

I'm so excited and can't wait for saturday! ^_^

(might also be a good time to take down notes for future events hehe)

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Guess what brainless funny movie we watched this time....

Dodgeball. Yes. Dodgeball.

Loads of fun.

Ben Stiller rules.

and Chuck Norris! (haha!)

O_o

Monday, September 20, 2004

Boo!

Just had my first taste of "authentic" La Paz Batchoy --straight from iloilo! (Thanks to Tin's parents ^_^)

Yum! (all i can say)

I want more.

Talk about comics...

Bendis is god. No really. He is.

I used to say that about Neil Gaiman (Sandman writer, among others) and Alan Moore (Writer of way too many kick ass comics) but I think it's time to expand the pantheon just a little bit. ^^

Brian Micheal Bendis currently writes way too many titles (Ultimate Spiderman, Daredevil, The Pulse, Avengers, Powers etc) and I'm really amazed at his gift for dialogue--which is his main strength. It all flows smoothly, casual and easygoing.

He's done several life altering things in Daredevil already that I'm starting to wonder when he'll run out of ideas! (He's revealed Daredevil's secret identity to the tabloids, blinded the kingpin, introduced a wife for Matt Murdoch, created a new designer drug made from Mutant Growth Hormone, really messed up the status quo and now Daredevil's taken over new york as the new Kingpin!)

Now he's planning to change the Avengers by killing off a long time member, disbanding the team and starting a new core team of Avengers with Spiderman and Wolverine in it! (Spiderman has never been a team player and Wolverine really doesn't work well with Captain America)

His ideas are radical and I'm really in awe. Shet.

ok fanboy mode off.

Thursday, September 09, 2004

I'd like to take the time out to say I love you to my Dad. I think I never got to say this to him personally. So i'm saying it now. I miss you.

Upcoming games:

I'm actually interested in the new Magic set, Champions of Kamigawa. ^^

It uses a japanese like setting (samurai, spirit demons etc) and that always appeals to me.

Why go back to Magic? (the card game that started all card games)

Because I rarely get to play VTES anymore --Vampire games are a bit sluggish around the store nowadays.

There's also Magic Online to consider. (Can't find anybody to play with? There's always a game waiting online!)

And then there's the samurai factor. That's always cool ^_^

Whatever happened to Marvel and DC VS?

I like the game, I love the cards, but again, hardly anyone plays it in the store.
(The game is active but I don't like traveling to a mall just to play it)

--what else?

oh yeah, I got a haircut from Bruno's barbers in Greenhills (ask for Rico his dayoff is tues)

I'm just blogging that here to remind me next time I get a haricut hehe--I actually thought his name was Raul lol

Sunday, September 05, 2004

Mmmm....Mushroom burgers....

I am now a fan.

And yes this is my first time. And it was glorious. I love it.

I like the fact that it's one jeep ride away from me mwahahaha! We have indeed found our whitecastle burgers. The mushroom sandwich with cheese is just the right size, you can actually eat 2 of them in one sitting ^_^

I love sharing new food discoveries with Tin. (technically she's had them before but it's been years--)

Friday, September 03, 2004

Tin and Johann go to Mushroom Burger!

Just bought a dvd copy of Harold and Kumar go the Whitecastle and after watching it, we immediately experienced a craving for burgers. lol! Went straight to Wendy's right after the movie haha. Apparently there's a branch of Mushroom burger near my place and since I've never tried it (*gasp!*) we'll give it a shot maybe on Saturday ^_^

Whitecastle burgers are very yummy (I saw it on unwarapped--the lifestyle network show on pop culture foods) they're very small, cooked with onions, lots of them so they're really savory and juicy. A person can usually eat around 2-4 burgers due to the small size.

The best thing that comes close to this is Wendy's. (I'm a McDo fan but the burgers at McDo aren't as great as Wendy's) In terms of pure toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, onions etc you can't beat Wendy's. (fast food comparison only of course) I don't even see enough toppings on a regular McDo burger! You just get a patty and some sad sauce/ketchup thing on the bun =P

Tin's been raving about Mushroom burgers for quite a while now so it's time for the taste test! ^_^

And yes regarding Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle: They had a sudden craving for Whitecastle burgers (foodtrip!) and it took them the entire movie just to get to their goal (Neil Patrick Harris, Dougie Howser stole their car among other mishaps lol) ^_^

Hopefully the worse that can happen to me and Tin is the traffic lol.

Bah stupid blooger
Wow: update!

Did a joint blog at Tin's site but i accidentally erased the entire thing! -sigh-
(It was at least 3 pages long!) oh well.

My TV arrived finally! (tues) and it is a thing of beauty. hahaha (screen size is still a bit small at 21 inches but it's fine)

Spent most of the stormy wed (happy 5 hun!) and thurs at Tin's house where we did nothing but snack lol. (this was covered in our joint blog btw)

Oh new shift: 4am to 1pm (don't know my dayoffs yet)

Sunday, August 22, 2004

SONY VEGA TV Countdown:

2 more days! It should be delivered on tuesday so I have to stay home all day to recieve it ^_^
Something to do during my 1 week (5 day) vacation:

VTES musings:

Organize my VTES cards!! (this is more than 6 months overdue). I was just going over the vtes newgroups after a long hiatus and upon reflection (yes I reflect on a card game =P) I realized that the anarchs option which I used to think/say was the worst sect/option is now starting to grow on me. (particularly since I've actually made a successful deck out of the anarch option--quite good but not tournament winning...at least not yet)

The Gehenna expansion introduced more new 3 way cards into the mix so this enables more options in deck building and more ways to play with the anarch rules. If I ever get around to organizing my cards I think I'll be making 2-3 more anarch decks. (vtes is coming back...slowly but surely)

So far I've made a fairly good anarch intercept/toolbox deck. I think it's time to make a barons vote deck. ^_^ (this will be sooo fun...i hope)

I played a game recently with Tin, Toad and 2 more players (my first vtes game after _at least_ 5 months!) and despite using a Karl deck managed fairly well. As fair as anybody with a Karl deck will hope to manage anyways hehe =P

I found that I missed the game somewhat. And that it was fun playing it with Tin ^_^
(although she was doing everything she could to oust me =P) I think I'll dabble in some more vtes eventually. (and I do have the time hehe)

Monster Pizza!

Apparently there's a new (for me at least) pizza join in town: Jugno's Monster Pizza!
I saw this in our office pantry --someone delivered 3 HUGE boxes and left it on the coffee table. They weren't kidding about monster pizza! Those boxes were enormous!
Might get to try it out later this sunday (hopefully)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Currently reading An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears. Great stuff for fans of the Alienist (Caleb Carr) and The Name of the Rose (Eco) according to the blurb on the cover. And of course I'm a fan of both hehe. It's a fun read (an intellectual thriller!!--yet another blurb =P)

-------------------------------------------

I'm not really impressed with the movies out right now, although I do want to watch the Village it's not as compelling as the diretor's previous works. (maybe I'll rent it on dvd/vcd like I did with Signs)

Saw the trailer for Stepford Wives and it didn't grab my fancy. Ditto for Alien vs Predator. (I'll watch them to waste time but I won't actively seek them out at the cinema)

---------------------------------------------

Friday, August 20, 2004

It's not as easy as it looks!

You'd think that with all the romantic movies out there --buying a ring would be as simple as going to the store, pointing out the one you like and paying for it...but no! If you're planning on buying a ring, always check to see if you know the ring size. @_@

Wednesday, August 18, 2004

New Threads and something else ^^

Oh yeah, got myself a new pair of jeans (finally!) and a pretty funky sling bag (which Carson from Queer Eye calls a "man purse") Money well spent! I've been planning on buying these items for months now lol.

What next? More jeans? New Glasses?

I'm thinking: A nice shiny engagement ring. ^_^

10 New Books! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Bookfair came and went and I managed to get 6-7 books out of that event ^_^
(the other 3 books were from booksale hehe) I'm all set for the next month now haha.
Had a lovely time visiting the fair with Tin and Carding. We were like tourists taking pictures lol! There's a very lovely picture of Tin somewhere in her blog (it's us in the book fair) She's just so cute! ^_^ Yes I'm happy. Yes I'm very much in love. ^_^ Yes I think she's so wonderful. ^_^

Saturday, August 14, 2004

MWAHAHAHAHA!!

Who would have thought that my mere 2-3 months in Dell Home Sales would actually get me a SONY VEGA 21" TV?? ahahahaha! (and to think I also won a very nifty mp3 player while I was still training lol)

I apparently accumulated some points (42,200) over the course of 2-3 months while doing my sales and it was enough to get me a brand new TV ^_^ (flat screen!)

I even have 3,200 left over hehe. Eventually I hope I can get enough to get a new cel phone ^_^

I'll post my future wish list later hehe (something to save up for)

Yes! A free 3 day vacation!

I'm expecting a 3 day suspension sometime this month...(and I honestly can't wait)
I mean sure it means no pay but that's ok with me --I'm almost dying from call center stress =P

3 free days--wheee! (hopefully friday, saturday and sunday)

I need a new non call center job.

=P

Beach trip!! Boracay!!

Time for some rainy day beach madness! Carding, Dong and me have always wanted to take a road trip to Boracay during the summer but we've been too busy or too broke hahaha... Tin suggested we take the RoRo (short for something like Roll on Roll off)
it's like a super long ferry ride (you drive your car in the ship thingy, and roll off after like 12 hours lol)

Am still coordinating this grand adventure (in the middle of the rainy season no less) so it's still up in the air at the moment. Will need to ask pacoi and cuppkeyk's schedules (and by default abi and all the significant others)

I've been thinking and I just realized that it's been a long frickin while since I've been on a beach. =P (not like I miss it that much--but it's fun)
Yey Bookfair!

And thanks to Ateneo, Tin got free tickets! ^_^

Checked out Montgomery homes in E.Rodriguez (by Ayala Land) --lovely homes. I want to live there (all I need now is 10 million pesos...)

Oh and the reason for these short and sweet blog updates is because I'm doing them in between calls hehe (still no phone line sa house...)

On the plus side: I finally got my company ID so thats one less ID needed for a passport/bank account (will try for driver's license soon) and my SSS ID is also coming soon... ^_^
(yes I'm on the grid once again)

Bookfair na!

Next week na! syet...kiss my money goodbye hehehe.

The one good thing about it (if it is a good thing) is that the venue is a bit hard to go to (for me that is) so I'll probably only be able to go there just once.

ah well...we'll see. ^_^

Go nuts!

Change in work schdule (2am to 11am) allows me to buy donuts at Go nuts donuts in GB3 finally! (that's about the only good thing about this sked)
oh well...(there goes the night diff)

Let the games begin!

Just started a new D&D game with the gang. It's been fun so far...I actually missed playing hehe.
Will have to read up on forgotten realms novels again to refresh my realms lore =P (not to mention read up on the combat rules in the players handbook---yes geeky stuff)

which reminds me:

Friday is payday! (or saturday) Book buying spree soon!

Will most likely get a couple of R.A. Salvatore novels (light and fun reading)  but they cost around 300-400 each!

So it's either that or that expensive neal stephenson book I saw in Fully Booked (costs a thousand bucks tho)

choices choices!  >_<

oh yeah must also get new pair of jeans and cat food (poor stinky is starving hehe)

Hello weekend! (and a mini-rant on the lack of gamers)

Had fun playing RO...am set to enjoy the rest of the weekend... (start of dayoff! yey!) Can't wait to watch Imelda...

All I need now is a D&D game...too bad neither Cuppkeyk nor Pacoi can make it. bleah =P

Dong and Carding need a partner!  (need 3 players at least or the group has a strong chance of dying...heck even with a full party they have a strong chance of dyin hehe)

These absent gamers actually value work more than D&D??!! (in pacoi's case it's the girlfriend)

(these are the same people who cut class for a week just for a game.

Grabe. Mature na sila.

Where oh where have the true gamers gone? (meaning hardcore)

ah well.

I got stuff to do so my days are full enough---hello Imelda! ^^

More Dork Tower Goodness!

Just found out that John Kovalic started a live journal recently ^_^

(that means you live journal users can actually chat him up and network and all that ^^)

have fun!

IMELDA!!

OMG! completely forgot about this! (it's showing na!!)

It's a must watch for me (it seems to be in the same vein as Bayaning 3rd World)
hopefully I'll be able to catch it this sunday (it's showing in all the major theaters)

--wag sana ma pull out!

Company Follies

so this is how it is to cross dress. yes I'm wearing a skirt right now (company mandated) --it's apparently topsy turvy day guys dress up as girls and girls dress up as guys. =P

oh. I feel a draft. damn.

GIRLS WHO ARE BOYS

WHO DO GIRLS LIKE THEY'RE BOYS

---Blur Girls and Boys

I'm liking my skirt now.

It's swishy ^_^

Knights of the Dinner Table!

Ah yes... this sounds like an episode of Dork Tower waiting to happen. Everything was set up: the character sheets were filled up properly,  snacks were bought from mini stop, core rule books and magazine supplements were made ready...but one thing was missing. The frickin adventure. Yes I left the dungeon magazine at the shop.

and so a nice quiet evening of gaming was wasted.

At least Carding managed to watch Turn Right Turn Left. (he cried like a baby...the wimp)

Oh and Takeshi Kaneshiro just outed himself recently. (sorry girls)

***

Just watched King Arthur with Tin and I really recommend this for all gamers. ( I watched this without any expectations whatsoever so I wasn't at all disappointed with the story) It's got kick ass action scenes ---my favorite: 8 knights versus 200 saxons!! woooot!!

Don't even bother to analyze the story or characterization, just admire the quiet beauty of Keira Knightly and her equally gorgeous co-stars (tristan was rather striking)

story wise: gaping plot holes as big as the moon. don't even think about it.

verdict: Fun to watch (definitely nothing cerebral!) A great way to waste 2 hours. Nothing to write home about...gamers might want to get their own copy just for the battle scenes but that's about it. Not worth getting this on pirated dvd. (just rent it)

Hectic Week!

stress levels are high...need to relax this weekend!

I'd love to go out on a movie marathon this sunday (kill bill2, king arthur...and maybe around the world in 80 days)--just not sure if my girlfriend is up to the challenge hehe. (she suffers from "movie head")

I was actually the same type as Tin but the quiz also suggested this as an alternative, which fits me more when I thought about it...
I am, of course, none other than blank verse.
I don't know where I'm going, yes, quite right;
And when I get there (if I ever do)
I might not recognise it. So? Your point?
Why should I have a destination set?
I'm relatively happy as I am,
And wouldn't want to be forever aimed
Towards some future path or special goal.
It's not to do with laziness, as such.
It's just that one the whole I'd rather not
Be bothered - so I drift contentedly;
An underrated way of life, I find.
What Poetry Form Are You?

Interesting thought:

(I find it amusing that Tin and I have the same birthday therefore we have the same horoscope hehe)

and thus our horoscope for tom (thurs):

Daily Couples:
There's too much clutter and it's making it hard for
you to maneuver. Try to pare down the trimmings of
your relationship so it's manageable -- and
long-lasting.

It'd be interesting to see what or who we can pare down...
on the joys of watching a movie alone:

there is none. live with it. ahahahaha.

hopefully the experience won't kill you. i mean whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger anyways right? whatever.

and yes this is a thinly veiled rant, but this is my blog and i can whatever I want with it =P

at least this will keep me awake during overtime...hatred>caffeine.

quiet moments with tin

It's still a pleasant surprise to discover how much alike we are together. I like these times where we just hang out together, we don't even need to talk...just enjoying each other's presence is enough. I swear I can just stare at her for hours. (and it really does surprise me to find out that after a moment of silence, we think the same thoughts)

--yes I'm still giddy happy after 4 months and then some =P

I've never been this happy ever and I'm still in awe at how everything falls neatly into place. She's here to stay (for as long as she wants to) and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Saturday, July 10, 2004

no ditch day!

will be celebrating this event with a LAN party playing RO all day sunday with Katya and Dong hehe

actually I miss her already and I cant wait to see her when she gets back (will be waiting at her house til she gets back at midnight)

Now it's time for me to tell you about Young Nastyman,
archrival and nemesis of Wonderboy, with powers comparable to Wonderboy.
What powers you ask? I dunno how 'bout the power of flight?
That do anything for ya? That's levitation, holmes.
How 'bout the power to kill a yak from 200 yards away... with mind bullets! That's telekinesis, Kyle.
How 'bout the power to move you?

Damn good band. I love this song.

the road to perdition

heck I thought I was on the road to recovery but apparently not.

oh yeah shaider's dead. big whoop.

thing to look out for: buck's orange fizz
(or something like that)

yummy orange juice with white wine

like a dog pissing on his territory...

...some scents just leave a mark days after the fact...

man that is annoying.

Something's off in my universe....

...and I'm not sure what it is. =(

Friday, July 02, 2004

Current mood: tired. insane.
Current Music: Good Riddance

Had fun. No long haired guys bugging me until this afternoon =P
Not that I have anything against long haired guys (just a specific one), but its been a long day (been awake for 36 hours) and I just had to deal with some family issues this morning. (besides I've always hated this long haired motherf*cker since way back)

--if you're this particular long haired motherf*cker in question no offense =P
I'm not normally like this. I'm just in a sorta foul mood right now.

*rings bell* *takes deep breath* *starts mantra*

okaaay...

in other news: Spider-man was good. damn good. I wanna watch it again.

It's the best comic to film ever made (until the new batman flick comes out)

You know you're a geek couple when...

...you send decklists to honey instead of love letters! hahaha ^_^
(at least she understood/appreciated them! =P)

on an unrelated sidenote: Despite the horrible weather I was actually able to laugh and skip about with Tin in the pouring rain ^_^ (yes I'm so in love =p die from envy lonely single people!)

Its actually tough being in a relationship if you're working in a call center, for one thing the hours are tough. (most times both of you are on different timezones!)
As your day starts, her day is just about ending...barely enough time to catch up with each other. I'm amazed I do so well ^_^ (the secret is to not sleep! very easy for an insomniac hehe)

Spiderman is showing na! am so excited for this ^_^

Shopping frenzy

Must try to cut back on shopping spree...bought more funky clothes (when did I become such a fashionista? hehe)

Goal for the month of july:

buy 2 pairs of jeans
some funky t-shirts
get my important paperwork done
clean out my comics backlog at CCHQ
take tin out to chateau verde ^_^
re-learn driving
stop being so paranoid whenever a strange dude asks to meet my girl (never!)

Looks like a lot of work, lets see if I can hit at least 3 of these goals hehe =P

Monday, June 28, 2004

very very eventful week!

Finally met Tin's parents (sweatdrop) whew! That made me nervous! ^^
I actually met the entire clan grabe! (it was a family event and I was invited --baptisM ^^)
Her folks are nice and friendly! (but then again what would you expect from a cheng chua? ^^) They did a lot to put me at ease ^_^

Attempted to go to the toy fair in Megamall but heard it was too crowded. Went home instead and played Marvel VS hehe

It's been a fun week so far...great way to end the month (except for a minor hitch regarding some gay/bisexual scheduling clandestine meetings with my girl *chika* =P)

Change of work shift starts now...hectic workload =P

Monday, June 21, 2004

Got sick...got better

What a way to waste your dayoffs =P Developed a slight fever on the start of my dayoff bleah. (This happened in Trellis pa naman--lost my appetite, couldn't even finish the sisig we ordered)

I am ever so thankful for my girlfriend for taking care of me. ^_^ I love you so much hun. I got better a lot faster due to this ^_^ (was able to watch Harry Potter finally! yey!)

Food to Blog about!

Just tried out a new resto in greenhills: Oyster Boy --Damn! Good food!! Scallops that melt in your mouth! Juiciest oysters fresh from the shell! (grab a shell and just slurp it all up!) and one of the _tastiest_ sisig dishes ever! (with that extra hint of sweetness and spice that we expect comes from longganisa bits mixed in--yum)
They had their own version of paella --the seafood rice...yummy hehe

Apparently the resto hails from iloilo (my hun's hometown) so it was mainly seafood mixed with some inihaw na liempo, sisig, lechon kawali...basta good eats hehe.

This is definitely a resto that we're coming back to ^_^ (to try out the other oyster dishes! hehe)

Monday, June 14, 2004

oh yes...a return to geekdom =P

So I managed to grab a copy (borrow actually...thanks mahar!) of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for D&D...now it's time to rustle up some players hehe.

yes I'm a geek =P (but its been a long time!)
Yes...something new

Been doing a lot of research on a new cardgame (yes _another_ cardgame) It's the Marvel VS. system CCG (DC is also coming out with one using the same card game engine this month)

It's actually pretty interesting in terms of gameplay (art is fantastic btw--nice lineup of big name artists like Kevin Nowlan, Alex Garner, Brian Steelfreze etc)
I'm very much intrigued. (hopefully I can dupe some people into playing with me hehehe)

In other news: I helped out in Tin's kitchen and actually prepared my own lunch! ^_^ (penne pasta with cream of mushroom, bacon, cheese and pepper...yum)

ah the joys of domesticity ^_^

Thursday, June 10, 2004

Been a bit too lazy to update this....

Well actually I just can't seem to find the time, it's either work or time better spent with Tin ^_^

Hmm...what's new...

Oh yeah I bought new shoes ^_^

I noticed my old pair had a hole big enough to stick your finger in..so it was high time to replace em. Tin also saw a nice pair of sneakers in bench for less than php 500! (well it was php499 =P) So I got those as well. Confession time: I haven't owned a pair of sneakers for well over 7-8 years now! (believe it or not I've lived on sandals and slip-ons for at least 6 years hehe)

They look and feel funky ^_^

up next: jeans.

yes I'm slowly building up a decent fashion wardrobe again.

...there are some things in life that shouldn't be given so much importance, if they don't change what is essential...I'll say again, i would be delighted to be your companion for the rest of your life---but you must think over very carefully whether I am the man for you or not. If your answer is yes, we will celebrate our wedding in a few days.

New shift

Starting this wed I'm on the 4am to 1pm shift...bleah. Its just so hard to get to makati at 4am...(not to mention that I get less night diff)
I think I'm gonna spend a fortune on cabs =P

oh well. Monday is payday. I cant wait. I need new shoes.

Wednesday, May 26, 2004

And a Happy 2nd month to us! ^_^

Can't believe we've only been together for 2 months--seems far longer hehe.

I'm insanely happy. (despite incoming financial ruin mwahaha)

Sunday, May 23, 2004

So much to do...so little time...so little money

Tons of good books out in the shops...a big backlog of comicbooks (sorry hun hehe)waiting for me at CCHQ...Not to mention future trips to tagaytay, baguio, puerto galera and boracay...movies and dvds to buy...bills to pay *cackles madly*

on a good note, I won another company spiff: 360 bucks yehey ^^ (this is still a soul destroying job btw--money is just a perk hehe)

Saturday, May 22, 2004

Current reading list:

I actually spent some time reading while Tin was in Iloilo--currently reading 2-4 books at once: Artemis Fowl (young adult novel ala Harry Potter), Pixel Juice by Jeff Noon (kick ass grant morrison type writing), Salt: A brief history of the world (excellent food/hostory writing), Dragonlance: war of souls part 3 by Weis and Hickman (yes yes--a throwback to my old fantasy reading days)
wow..an update!

not much of one. needless to say a lot of things have happened but its too tedious to chronicle it all here (which is actually the point of having a blog i know =P)

well lets make an attempt:

I got a new phone (yey!) Blew most of my paycheck on this one..bleah. I really hate this since it leaves me with no money to spend on my favorite comics. *sigh* (I will get back to purchasing them soon...)

Saw some funky movies...Van Helsing was funky haha (I compare it to that funky smell that grows on your socks after wading thru a flood...) --my god the dialogue was simply so cheesy =P Troy was ok. Not at all historically/literally accurate but what the heck hehe-- Gwapo naman si papa Brad eh (am kidding hun--don't whack me)

Am somehow back playing RO (not regularly tho)messed up character build but still fun ^^

Gehenna expansion came out for VTES. Kick ass set. Lots of new and interesting cards--fun fun.

Celebrating 2 months with Tin soon (yihee) I owe her some letters =P

Saturday, May 15, 2004

I got a new phone finally! But my girlfriend's gone for a week....

I'll post my new number eventually--Tin is leaving for iloilo on sunday. She'll be gone for almost a week--around 5 days. (I've never actually been seperated from her for more than 2 days so I wonder how I'll react to this new situation lol)

We should hold a no tin day party with her sibs...(am kidding hun! I miss you already!)

Isolation --Sensory Deprivation

this is fun--I dont have a landline (phone got disconnected)so therefore I also dont have internet access at home. I lost my cel phone (most likely stolen while I was on a bus)

There is now absolutely no sure way to contact me. (actually texting Tin might get results hehe)

I just dont like this feeling of being unable to reach out and touch someone hehe (old phone comercial tag line)

anything can happen to me and no one will know.
(there were some really annoying rallies or whatevers here in ayala--grrr kill FPJ)

--another fun thing---

My watch also died on me---shet isolated na timeless pa!

normally I'd like to be detached from worldly affairs and all that--but I realized that I just cant stand to be so...isolated from Tin. She's my one fixed constant. The center of my universe =P

(rebecca's right I sound like a giddy schoolgirl even when I'm bitching about my unsual streak of bad luck--but I dont care--I'm in love dammit =P)

Saturday, May 08, 2004

Hi, all!

Johann recently lost his phone and he has very limited access to the internet --

If anyone needs to reach him, send smoke signals in his general direction (or morse ^_^) --

He'll be getting a phone soon, though --

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

New Start (v.2)

Training is over and am now working full time on the production floor. Tin got accepted in Ateneo for a part time teaching position. Everything's still falling into place---galing lang.

so many things to write about---so little time.

Paging Cuppkeyk

Tuloy ba tayo sa friday? (I'll try to get rebecca to join us) Feel free to post sa comments link if you're not going or anything---try to message pacoi na din by MSN kung pwede sila ni Abi (I'll text Dong)

yun lang ^^ (Goodluck sa palanca!)

OK--UPDATE LANG: Rebecca has confirmed na pwede cya for friday--I also texted dong and he said he will be bringing Pacoi and Abi on friday so more or less this is a GO!! (to quote becky: gimik gimik gimik gimik gimik...yes she's bored...=P)

post na lang where we should meet or any suggestions as to:

WHEN ---what time shall we meet?
WHERE---and where? (also any alternatives)

Manang's Foodhouse

There's apparently a Beach House (popular UP food place) equivalent in Ateneo (called Manang's Foodhouse located near the tennis courts/gym. They serve excellent inihaw and letchon kawali--at dirt cheap (relatively dirt cheap if you're from Ateneo hehe) prices! Had lunch with Tin there earlier--I liked the place ^^

The place fills up fast--I suggest going there at around 11am or you might run out of food or seats hehe ^^

Some old students might call it by it's old name (Clubhouse) but its the same banana =P

Trainspottin!

Just watched it again for the nth time!(the last time I saw it was several years ago tho so I forgot most of the story) Always a classic--am glad we found a pirated dvd copy in greenhills (still no luck with memento tho) Fuckin amazin movie! hehe. Definitely one of my favorites ^^

Current Music: Pearl Jam (grunge pare)

Monday, April 26, 2004

yeah! Go grunge! hehe (of course I'm the techie idiot so I don't know why the picture of Nirvana isnt showing =P) ah basta---for the imaginative out there: there's supposed to be a picture of Nirvana right before the Grunge description =P

Grunge! You're all about the music and would even
turn your back on fame just to stay true to
your roots... You reached your high in the
early '90s, but you're still making some good
stuff! Keep rocking!

What genre of rock are you?

Monthsary Chronicles (part 1)

Saturday (april 24)

Honestly I didn't think I'd make it this far with Tin (I barely had the courage to ask her out the first time! =P) Now I'm actually glad I did. Thank you scooter girl hehe. I really felt like Ashton back then (lead character in the Scooter Girl comic)--always clumsy and toungue tied--bleah hehe. She really had that much of an effect on me grabe.

Another freaky incident that makes me smile: While Tin was playing munchkin, I was sitting beside her trying to surprise her by attaching a friendship bracelet on her ankle. She noticed it and smiled, whipping out her own bracelet from one of her pockets and tying it to my wrist. (we apparently had the same idea--wanting to surprise each other with a bracelet hehe) Ang galing lang how we think alike. (there must be something to this sharing the same birthday thingy ^_^) We both started laughing when we realized what we had planned--people must have looked at us funny---like we had our own private joke.

I took her to UP sometime in the afternoon to watch the sunset and show her my favorite haunts. (another goal was to get her to try out our world famous UP Isaw hehe) We walked all over the campus--from the college of law to sunken garden to main lib to palma hall to FC (also showed her the old UP Quill tambayan) to the lagoon to Admin (good ole oblation butt boy) to mass comm (syempre college ko!) to film center and finally to the Isaw place in front of Kalayaan Dorm. That was quite a walk (even in a leisurely pace) so I think we just both collapsed somewhere and quite forgot about dinner =P

quite eventful. not bad for a pre-anniv day ^_^

She noticed that I had a peaceful look on my face while we were walking around...the same look she gets when she's in Ateneo. Comfort zones ^^

And of course--despite being told what it was--she actually liked the isaw ^_^ (worth coming back for)

Sunday (april 25): Monthsary Day!

Maroon5's "Sunday Morning"

"That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave"

Woke up early--went over to katips for an early breakfast at McDo-- we both feel that this has been our routine/ritual despite the short time we've been together. (She wrote me a really lovely letter and I'll see if I can quote her about it) Suffice it to say that it was wonderful--a memory to come back to again and again. (personal for me i thinks)

Wacky Weekend!

It's been hectic! Havent updated for a while now--the phoneline is sorta dead at my place at the moment (anybody calling me --just text na lang). Just celebrated our first "monthsary" yesterday--grabe saya. ^^
My Gimmick: Light up some candles, turn off the lights, bring out the wineglasses and sip some gourmet rootbeer hehe

Will post more updates later

Whee!

Can't wait for this weekend--lots of stuff to do, am excited! So many plans-- I'm sure to drive Tin insane if I change things at the last moment (like I normally do mwahaha). Must also make a note to take some pics--we just got new haircuts hehe. Still on a high--good vibes and all that ^^

Current music: Foo Fighters (walking after you)

Monday, April 19, 2004

Current Music: Moby (cool trippy music--not my normal genre at all but I like his style)

Since I'm on a music trip right now...This will serve as a note/reminder to myself to look for Moby's first album Play Great stuff.(maybe ask someone to download the entire album for me hehe) Excellent tracks. (bit hard to find but that's the challenge^^) I've actually been looking for this for 2-3 years now hehe--just forgot about him

Just bought a nice compilation of mp3s from greenhills (for my *ahem* new toy hehe) Grabe--this is the music I grew up with--nostalgia galore hehe. Early college was classic grunge--Pearl Jam and Nirvana plus some odd assortment of alternative rock and stuff (Stone Temple Pilots, Lemonheads, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis--cool stuff)

Sound tripping right now ^_^

In other news: Finally met Abi (Pacoi's abi) today. We actually had lunch (the girls finally met each other as well) Treated them to The Old Spag House (TOSH). Was nice ^^

A series of Fortunate Events

Karmic upswing happens. I won an MP3 player from our company raffle today hehe. Tin got a letter with some good news as well ^_^

Also got a cool haircut from bench fix (not to mention a great lunch at bento box)

ganda lang ng day--for the both of us ^^

My faith in the universe is restored. All is right in the world once again. Good vibes --great feelings.

Lets keep it that way.

Songs about Tin

I managed to buy a cd of Maroon 5 for Php 200! Apparently my trainer got a copy for free and she doesn't like the band ^^. Her loss. hehe (I always wanted to buy my own copy--never found the time or money until now hehe--good price pa!)

Some lines from:

She will be Loved

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for this girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved

Tap on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore

It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along
My heart is full and my door's always open
You can come anytime you want

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I'll be meeting Tin later for breakfast in Katipunan. Sausage McMuffins and Hashbrowns yum ^_^ Another option would be Pancake House but we already did that last saturday hehe Pure bliss is composed of quality time with the your loved one and blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup. (Hashbrowns will do in a pinch of course)

Cant wait to try out a breakfast buffet in one of those quaint hotels (unlimited bacon! unlimited fresh OJ!--wow hehe) Lots of plans, lots of stuff to do with Tin...I love the fact that my future is tied to hers now. Something to look forward to ^^

Speaking of Financial Stability

Crisis over. Managed to get my final paycheck from RMH and it was greater than I expected. It's enough to pay off all the debts I incurred since that Lost Wallet Fiasco and still have room to survive the month ^^
I'm also supposed to get my first paycheck from E-Telecare this thur so all's well finally.

Funny thing: I managed to encash the check without any valid ID whatsoever. I still need to get myself an ID otherwise I'm persona non grata hehe. Big Brother needs to put me back into the system.

Interesting thing: Tin is now my financial manager. She bought this small notebook where I should do all my budgeting and stuff. Very OC. (this will prove to be an amusing experience hehe) I really can't imagine myself writing down every minor expense in that notebook. *shrug* I could use the guidance--I've been known to indulge myself when it comes to these things hehe^^.

More stuff to do...

Things to do:

Get Haircut
Get Medical Exam (this will be done later this morning at 8am)
Shop for clothes/shoes/glasses
Check out the new movie skeds/dvds
Get my comics from the store

Sarap talaga when you're back on stable financial ground ^^

Some thoughts on our beso-beso culture

It actually just mystifies me. Then again I'm very anti-social so I really wouldn't get it. Apparently it's very much practiced in Ateneo and some other places. If someone does that to me I wouldnt know what to do. (kiss air most likely) Why cant you just shake hands or hug or something? hehe. (I still associate it with social climbers and matronas actually so it really has a negative thing to it)

There was a time where even my friend Rebecca was doing that as a greeting whenever we saw each other (which is rare since she was in law and I was a bum) until she noticed that I was incomfortable with it. I really lack social skills hehe
Food for Thought

I am loved. wala lang haha. It's a wonderful feeling to know you are loved. When someone prepares a meal for you. (asides from relatives--I've never had this done for me before--galing.) I know this view is obviously biased but the food tastes better for me. Ate every last piece

Show your world to me...

It's been pretty eventful lately--let me see if I can remember everything that's been happening so far:

-Started work in Makati na (say goodbye to those hundred buck cab rides to Libis!). I finally get to use my trustworthy (and cheap) MRT card hehe.

-Tin got to meet my parents last saturday. First stop was my dad in magallanes (its been a while since I visited myself) She even brought flowers! so sweet and thoughtful talaga--had an excellent brunch in pancake house. Blueberry pancakes. Yum. It's funny when she met my mom though hehe. She was all quiet and demure! (she said she spent a lot of time practicing her chinese pa naman haha!) All the words seemed to have left her--I know for a fact that I'll be like this when I finally get to meet her parents in Iloilo. (maybe worse--I'm very shy when it comes to these things)

-Also had our semi-regular drinking session with my friends. It was fun to chat and introduce her to everyone. I glad we didnt shock her delicate sensibilities with our crazy stories. ^^

-Katya also invited me over for easter lunch (apparently its a tradition of sorts) Am honored by this btw. Had a fun time with them (Tin and Jan's Awful Apple Pie was a nice story hehehe)

-Visited a lot of shops (in makati, ortigas and even SM North) Id never thought this would be so much fun
I guess it all depends on the company ^_^ (tried on some nice jackets and clothes--will have to remember them for future purchases)

-Also tried out Panciteria Lido over in ortigas (near greenhills) excellent place for chinese food!

-Finally got to watch memento (twice even hehe).

Grabe. Its been pretty hectic just looking back at the things that happened this holy week. Pretty amazing for a "dead holiday". Things should settle down soon. Work will keep me busy (also have to get all my requirements done pa)

Must also remember to make a VTES deck for the upcoming tourny. I just realized--I want that shirt!

still soo many things to do! its going to be hectic for a few more days still

Looking back on my holy week--it was fun.

All in all it's time well spent with Tin.

Sheep Herding and other tales

Holy week is around the corner. It's usually a time for relaxation, meditation spiritual or otherwise...(or if you're like me--just another excuse to hang out with friends hehe) So it's been decided. We're having our semi-regular drinking/chika session sometime this holy week. All I need to do now is coordinate the darn thing. If you knew my friends...I swear it's like herding sheep. (I mean-- once the details have been set up and agreed upon--like date, time and venue...they still text and ask for directions or schedules!) In anycase, this particular event will be significant because they finally get to meet Tin (yes she's coming over as well). I'm sure they'll love her. (They have no choice in the matter anyways--she's here to stay. =P)

Speaking of holy days--last Palm Sunday was quite eventful for me. (Was supposed to attend mass with Tin at her place but we got held up--apologies to the true blue catholics out there) A lot of stuff was accomplished--including sending my resume to an ad agency (my dream job--copywriter) and finally getting to watch About a Boy . (I still love and prefer High Fidelity tho) I hate to sound like a broken record--but I still say that you can never spend enough time with the right person. That's my Tin. ^^ (It's amazing how much you can feel for someone. The sheer intensity can overwhelm you.)

In other job related news: Training will finally conclude this wednesday. Not a day too soon. God I'm sick of going to Libis. I can't wait for Makati! (MRT! whee!) No more hundred peso cab rides! (I will miss booktopia tho--excellent selection. I just wish I had the cash to buy em hehe)

Sharing thoughts and memories

I just read Tin's edited version of her Cambridge journal (part of her happy kit) and I'm very grateful for the trust and love that's implied in the gesture. It allowed me a rare glimpse into her semi-private thoughts and feelings-- and the more I learn about her, the more I adore her. I appreciate the effort and hope that I can do the same for her someday. (I'm started my own journal at work a few days ago.)

Will write more later--I love her so much.
My Happy Day Kit

I just got my Happy Day Kit a few days ago and it's really something! ^^ (It's nice to know that someone out there really cares for you) After my recent series of unfortunate events, I think I deserve a nice break. What could be better than a nice dinner out with my Tin this wednesday (especially since she's paying haha!) Honestly tho-- I really appreciate the thought and effort that went into this kit and this just makes me realize how lucky I am. ^^

Amusing thought: I can never spend enough time with her.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Funny thing: My paycheck is finally ready for pick up. Sadly they're closed on saturday/sunday (which is the only free time that have) I can get someone to pick it up but I'd need to do a letter of authorization and a valid ID (which incidentally was all in that wallet that I lost). What a conundrum. =P

One good thing: Tin is my only constant. I'm very lucky to have her with me.

Another funny thing: I swear I've been having a series of unfortunate events lately. First I lose my wallet (with all my identification and all my money) Now on the way to work earlier, the cab I took broke down not once, not twice but three times. It was sheer horror. I was looking at the steadily rising taxi meter and my watch at the same time (feeling something that resembles despair settling in my stomach).

On the bright side: I came to work 30 mins early despite everything plus the driver only made me pay half the fare. Cool deal but not something I'd want to do again.

Oh and I finally managed to find someone willing to buy my copy of Final Fantasy XI (much needed cash thank the lord)

If this is still some cosmic balancing act, I still got the better deal. I'm with someone I care very deeply for and I'm prepared to lose more just to be with her. (not that I'd want to mind you. I've already experienced quite a bit of trouble as it is)

There's nowhere to go but up. (slowly but surely)

The Here and Now

Life has a funny way of balancing things. The happiest moment of my life this year was when I got together with Tin. Then in one sudden change, I've been given one of the most trying times ever. I just lost my wallet in a cab (stupid me). It contained all my money. I kid you not, all my savings (not much since I was a bum for 3 weeks) gone in a flash. I'm now absolutely broke until I get paid in 30 days by my new company. What this means is that I can't even go to work since I have no money for transpo. (and I can't even be absent ever-one absence and it's hello termination)

Despite this, I still say it's all worth it (if this is a karmic thing trying to balance the good and the bad--I'd still say being with Tin is priceless.) I just got the sweetest letter from her yet. I'm overwhelmed. How can you love someone this much? To me she is perfect and my wasted heart will love her forever (apologies to Love Actually).

Updated my friendster picture btw.(this picture never fails to cheer me up--we just look soo damn happy and perfect together!) All I need to do to is take one look at it and I smile.

Lover's Concerto

It's all happening. I love these moments--you can just close your eyes, hold on tight to that special someone and simply enjoy the moment. I'm in love with Tin and everything is simply wonderful.

I'm mad about her. (who cares if I'm redundant or sappy or corny--I'm in love dammit!)

My head is spinning--will post more happy thoughts tomorrow ^_^

Pleasant Surprises

Someone recently called me a pleasant surprise. This is actually a good thing. It gives me hope and a small measure of comfort. It means that whatever I'm doing now isn't all that bad. It means that even if she wasn't expecting it--she's happy. I'm not normally like this (and my friends can vouch for that) but when I'm with her...everything changes.

I love it when she holds my hand.
I love it when she looks at me and just smiles without saying anything.
I love it when she just rests her head on my shoulders.
I love the way she laughs or giggles. (even if she won't/can't tell you why)
I love her quirks--both good and bad (not that there are any).
I love the moments we spend together--just us...no distractions no bothers.

I just love everything about her.

Yes, see me smitten. (and I wouldn't have it any other way^^)

New Job, New Start

Will be at eastwood later for my job offer. I think I start on monday (march 29). I just hope (altho I really doubt this) that they have some sort of fixed schedule...I'd hate to be on a shifting sked (my day offs would change every week---icky). This means I will most likely miss out on future tourneys and whatnot.

I got a nice postcard (well sorta postcard) today ^_^. This really made my day hehe. I love it !^_^

Blue in Cebu---reminds me of that Amelie garden gnome hehe (Dont get me wrong here--its one of the nicest things I ever got)

Things are going well. I'm happy. (did I say that already? hehe) Starting work on monday will also mean that this is my last week of freedom (bumhood). Must make the most of it! Live the moment. Soon I'll be back in another "soul destroying job" as one of my friends put it hehe.

Storyline VTES, More job interviews and a partridge in a pear tree

I'm actually stumped on what deck to play for this upcoming storyline hehe. (not that it matters--even If I did decide on a deck to use/play--I somehow end up playing a totally different one on tourny day itself lol)
Yes I am fickle.

In other news: While waiting for the results on convergys, I got a call from another call center (E-Telecare)!
Just finished an initial interview and some basic IQ tests (Thank you for those locked room puzzles ^_^ hahaha---I breezed through those in just a few minutes lol) I was just thinking of applying for E-Telecare--
coincidence? hehe. All I need now is a call from Sykes---the call center where Pacoi and Cuppkeyk work for to complete the top 3 call centers around here haha. (actually I think E-telecare has a better offer--hmm)

Oh and I gave her the package yesterday---she seemed to like it (I wasnt there when she opened it---sayang--would have loved to see the look on her face ^_^)

Was a simple enough thing (I tend to cram things hehe--pls forgive the basic contents--it was the best I could do on such short notice) It contained: A book to read during alone moments (Bridge to Terabithia--a young adults novel that everyone has to read), a packet of tissues (She mentioned--and I figured--that she cries during weddings), Some of that wonderful jellybean candy for munching/travelling--and a Blue's Clues stuffy (was trying to look for a penguin since we saw 50 first dates but apparently its hard to find a penguin in this tropical country on such short notice) to keep her company in her hotel room.

I dont know if she packed everything with her (the thing looked kinda bulky as it is) but it's the thought that counts ^_^ (it was wrapped in a blue bandanna to give it that "traveller's pack" look hehe--you know those old cartoons where they wrapped all their stuff in a hanky and tied it to a stick, slinging it over the shoulders? hehe)

Current Music: Royal Tenenbaums OST (rather quirky music ^_^)

On the subject of first dates

I'm still slightly confused on how I managed to ask her out hehe. We had a dimsum dinner, watched 50 First Dates (how appropriate hehe) and dessert at Goodies and Sweets (Mochamisu--yum.)

It was a great evening. I can't believe how awkward I felt during the whole thing. We started out as friends so everything was comfortable. We've actually gone out before (with her siblings) so this wasn't anything new--just more...intimate. The subject of this being a friendly outing or whether this was a date came up and I'd have to say that this was indeed a date. I wanted to ask her out for some time now and I've only recently gathered up the courage to do so. I'm very glad I did. (especially when she agreed hehe)

She seemed open to the idea of seeing each other again in the future and that's very nice to know. I really like hanging out with her and I'm glad for any opportunity to do so. Everything feels right when I'm with her and I don't want to mess this up.

Am currently finishing some last minute touches on a gift right now. (She's going to Cebu for a wedding and I've thought of giving her a sort of "Cebu Survival Kit") Martha Stewart I am not.

Check out Brazen Skies! (my friend's live journal) He's a Tony Leung fan and a pretty demented poet. hehe.
Wow.

Current Music: Coldplay

This sunday was a lot of fun...it started out with a nice dimsum lunch followed by a wacky night out with friends. Learned some new things about them as well hehe. Mongkok. Yum.

Visited Galleria for the first time in ages. I really love that place better than Megamall despite the lack of a decent bookstore. Less crowded, better interiors. Cool shops. Trendy and fun restos. An excellent alternative to podium with better movie selections.

Congo grill in el pueblo was also great. Very yummy tuna and pork sisig (I had my doubts about the tuna sisig but it was just fantastic!) Someone had way too many zombies and blowjobs haha. I swear we were the only noisy ones in the place. It was good to let some steam out and just have fun.

Job interview later...hope I do well since I'm almost broke haha.

Just watched Almost Famous. Again. hehe. This movie never fails to cheer me up ^_^ (not that I need cheering up right now haha)

From the Almost Famous OST: (I love this song!)

Tiny Dancer
---Elton John

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can't hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Grabe. Galing. (the scene in the movie where they sing this is just fantastic)

The tragedy of this world is that no one is happy, whether stuck in a time of sorrow or of joy. The tragedy of this world is that everyone is alone. For a life of the past cannot be shared with the present. Each person who gets stuck in time gets stuck alone.

Meditation

I just found out that some puzzles relax me. A friend showed me a link to some locked room puzzles and before I realized it (she actually pointed it out to me)---hours have passed without me noticing it! O_O

I think I'm getting pretty good at it hehe. Something to occupy my mind asides from the usual VTES deck building thing.

Relaxation and meditation.

Current mood: calm and tranquil.

Current mood: Mood Swings to the Max. (happy to sad to irritable to content to whatever)

Current Music: Heroes Compilation (Lennon Morrison Bowie Mc Cartney Dylan Jagger Joplin Clapton)

Sad title for a compilation cd but excellent selection of artists. I think I'll watch Almost Famous again tomorrow for the nth time. (If I ever manage to find the time). Perfect way to unwind with some really cool music from the 70s.

I feel content. I dont think this will last but its something ^_^

Haircut on monday maybe.

Job interview and movie definitely.

My Roadmap

more on the phases of my life: (as charted by people under the influences of...well-- several mind altering substances)

Depending on who you talk to (Dong or Pacoi) I am either on phase 2.5 or phase 3...(and yes...they do seem to be making this up as we go along). I've actually never even heard of a phase 2.5 until recently.
Whatever that may be--I'm ok now. Time to start saving up again. Time to move on. (and my how time flies!) I always talk about making some changes but I haven't really made any (except for some superficial ones --like wardrobe, hairstyle etc) nothing I'd consider meaningful anyways. It really takes a lot of guts to do anything significant these days (for me at least) especially if you've been doing the same things for some time now. I need a push or a shove sometimes just to get started.

Current Music: Singles soundtrack (alice in chains! pearl jam!--happy music hehe)

Marianne, you are the most beautiful girl in the world. You are my dream.

The phases of a recently single man (according to Dong and Pacoi)

Phase 1: Mourning period

Amazingly enough I read about this in Mike Gayle's book--Mr. Commitment. The most appropriate length of time to grieve (especially if you've been in a long term relationship) ranges from
1 month to 3 months. This is where the wounds are still raw and you're still grieving over what you had.
In some cases you stop going to work or school and just stay home, locked up in your room crying. Your pillows are normally soaked in tears. Truly the worse stage in a breakup. Memories still continue to haunt you. What you had, what you lost--hours will pass before you notice that you've spent it all staring at the ceiling just remembering everything you once had. You feel like shit.

Phase 2: Healing

Somehow, after a period of depression, the heartbroken young man has found the mental and emotional
strength to move on. Old memories no longer turn him into a pile of blubbering manure. He has turned to friends or other social activities to help in his recovery. He starts going out again-- maybe just to see a movie with some friends or indulges in a night of drinking with his old college buddies. He's still sad but you can see a vast improvement since after the breakup. Maybe he throws himself in his work or studies--anything to pass the time and whatever it takes to make him forget the pain. The good part is you can actually talk about the experience with someone without being reduced to a ball of emotional goo. In time you'll want to seek closure (if it ended rather abruptly) or try to salvage whatever ties you had.

-----will post more on Phase 3 and 4 in a few days.
(these theories were developed after some nights of drinking and reminiscing on past experiences with Dong and Pacoi and should all be taken with a grain of salt since a lot of beer was consumed during those times)

I need a haircut!

Made some updates. --notice the new comments box? hehe (even if I did put them on the top of each new post rather than the usual position at the bottom) Anyways there are less than a dozen people who know this site anyways--I doubt if anyone will leave any messages.

In other news:

Its been almost 5 or 6 weeks since I cut my hair.(cathartic episode right there) wow. My how time flies. I need a new haircut. I think I'll get one next week....
I guess I'm brave enough to do it alone now hahaha (2 friends had to accompany me the last time since I
didn't know what to say to the hair stylist---they did all the negotiations for me)

Let me gather up some courage first haha.
