OMG Civilization!

We were just passing by the local mall (Atrium) when i saw it.

Filbars is opening in Iloilo! woot! Comics!

Altho they currently specialize in magazines...I spoke with the owner and asked if i could give him a list of the monthly titles i collect and if he can get them here in iloilo...he's ok with it so-- all seems to be progressing well in the comics department woot!

I'd die without Daredevil. (well not really but *shrug*)

Why!?

OVERSIZED SIN CITY!!! This is just AWESOME!!! I'm pretty sure the art will just jump off the pages. It's the perfect thing to have on your shelf. And they already released 2 of these!!!

I WANT... (I saw one on sale in Fully Booked--hopefully it'll still be there by december when i scrape up enough money to get this)

Here's the write up on the second Library set:

This second Sin City slipcase completes the oversized archival editions, available only in these exceptional collections. The handsome 8"x12" books feature the individual stories printed on high-quality paper stock and showcase Miller's atmospheric cover art from the original comics!

Created with serious Frank Miller collectors and art connoisseurs in mind, these new archival editions are sure to satisfy! This slipcase holds Sin City volumes five through seven: Family Values, Miller's first direct-to-trade work; Booze, Broads, and Bullets, an expansive compilation of short stories from the Town without Pity; and Hell and Back, the longest Sin City story to date!

This Library set also includes a special edition of The Art of Sin City, a lush complement to these deluxe volumes. The Art of Sin City extends the reach of the Eisner, Harvey, and National Cartoonists Society award-winning series by showcasing content‹such as Miller's preliminary sketches, that cannot be found elsewhere.

Now the groundbreaking work that sent a rush of adrenaline through the entire industry is available in an attractive archival format!

Dark Horse, 4 slipcased hardbacks, 736 pages (total), published May 2006

Seth!

He's here! and He's cute! (then again i'm biased duh)

He turns red a lot most especially when he cries...and he does that a lot =P

Poops a lot too--mainly due to the fact that he EATS A LOT!!! (almost 4 ounces!--which is supposedly not good for babies)

Then again he is big for his age---Seth's not even 3 weeks old but his size is that of a 5-6 week baby. Yeah. My son the basketball player jock. O_o

I can't wait to teach him VTES and watch him kick ass hehe.

I'm a Father!

Grabe, seeing our baby via ultrasound was intense. Who would have thought that I'd be a father? Hehe. It rocks. (right now we're hoping for a girl but for some reason baby didn't want to show his/her gender) I know we're gonna have a beautiful baby-- i was so proud when the doctor showed us our baby's profile, she/he had a well developed chin and nose! (she/he has my nose! hahaha much to tin's dismay =P)

Look at me gushing hehe --so this is what having a baby does to you. I can't complain. =)

I love my wife and our baby. Happy days and thoughts. =)

(until i start changing diapers)

A conversation

While watching WWE Smackdown on JackTV:
(Batista comes out)

Tin: Gwapo talaga ni Batista. Galing pa ng porma.
Me: Oo nga eh. Best dressed wrestler in WWE.
Tin: I think he's wearing pink.
Me: Is that pink? Looks like peach or salmon. Baka it's just the light.
Tin: I think it's pink.
Me: Baka turquoise pa nga eh.

Jim Aparo, R.I.P.

One of the best batman artists ever. Dead at 72.

This is a bit sad since he was actually one the artists who sort of inspired me to collect comics and started me on me doodling. I loved his work and the Brave and the Bold --a batman title that basically teamed him up with other characters in the DC universe. (this is about to be relaunched some time in 2006 btw woot!)

His artwork was clean. A mix of Neal Adams and Alan Davis. Ganda. Linis talaga.

This was taken from Pia's and Tin's blogs:

Total volume of music files on my computer:

none. I don't have a PC anymore hahahahaha. (sold it to carding--will hopefully get a new one soon)

Last CD I bought:

Oh dear. It's been a while. Garden State OST. (not friggin available in the Philippines the last time I asked Tower and Music 1. Had to get this from Amazon pa) SUPER AMAZING MOVIE. SUPER AMAZING SOUNDTRACK.

The Shins will change your life--or someting like that.

Song playing right now:

In my head: Cranberries' Zombie. Don't ask. I dunno myself.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band. --> Ultimate Love Song. Ultimate Fave Group.

The Entire Little Earthquakes album by Tori Amos. --> Ultimate favorite album. I once knew each and every song right down to the lyrics, and CD playlist arrangement.

These Are Days by the 10,000 Maniacs. --> From the 10,000 Maniacs MTV Unplugged album. Another CD where I memorized everything. This was the start of my alternative music genre (of you want to go into the whole genre classification of Music and the hours of discussion that entails...) That said, 10,000 Maniacs was good up until Natalie Merchant went solo.

In My Place and Yellow by Coldplay. --> Mope rock at it's finest. There are actually better songs by Coldplay but these are the ones you can hum and LSS the most. This is another sign that my music taste is changing due to old age. As you get older you tend to look for melody as opposed to noise. Really talented band, they also appear on the Garden State OST btw.

Evanescence, Juliana Hatfield, Joss Stone and the Cocteau Twins. Yes I'm cheating but as you can see my taste is primarily centered on Strong female vocals (non pop tho).

Five people I’m passing this to:

Cuppkeyk--because he always has changing tastes in Music
Tin-- It's been a while since we had a discussion on music.
Dong-- Lets see how he's changed from the Rocker of college to the Aging Rocker of today hehe.
Pacoi and Abi-- Hiphop si pacoi dati eh. I wonder if that's still true. I dont know anything about Abi musically too.
Allan Popa-- Extremely interesting taste in music (he loved nice female vocals also) and as far as i remember, he had the best collection of singles and b-sides CDs evar. Complete Tori Amos, Suzzane Vega, Bjork etc. Very Impressive Collection considering this was way back in college.
