Just saw Something's Gotta Give with some friends (great movie btw), tried to look for a dvd of Memento in greenhills...strangely they didnt have any. Finally got me a copy of Robert Jordan's latest novel from Powerbooks, couldnt find Miss Lahiri's novel tho -sigh-

All in all an afternoon well spent. (had lunch in Pho Hua...spring rolls....yum)

Silent all these years

Haha I never thought I'd ever have a live journal but I guess its cathartic. I still maintain that you can never get rich in this country just by writing. (and yes my only org in college was a literary org.) I just love dashing the dream of these idealistic young writers. "Creative Writing?! You'll never make a living from that!!" Nevermind that your friend just came from the Dumaguete workshop and another member of your org just got accepted into the Baguio workshop. Forget the fact the Luis Katigbak or (insert another palanca award winner from your org here) won another palanca.

Bah. Mass Comm students earn more per week. They also get to date the viva hotbabes (if thats your cup of tea)

Blogging. I've always called it masterbatory writing.

God this feels good. =P

Shopping Redux

Payday this friday ^_^

Should I go for shoes? Or some funky new glasses? (right now i'm leaning towards the glasses)
My fashionista friend suggests something angular and rimless, hip (yet trying not to be). I took a look at what she was wearing and wanted something exactly like it. Damn she has taste. (I can shop for my female friends but unfortunately I cant do the same for myself)

Will see what develops this sunday (it's leap year day), either I shop or watch a movie...or vegetate at home and grow some moss.

Current music: Iris (Googoo Dolls)

He who hesitates...

Tournament time this saturday. I've decided to play Turbo Arika, a deck that can oust the table by turn 4-5 if properly tuned and functioning--flops like a dying fish if everything goes to hell. A lot of things can happen in a tournament of course but I figured that since I'll be coming in from work, my brain wont be up to the task of handling something complex. A little simple cheese goes a long way. 2 rounds means I need at least 1 Gamewin. Oh well.

No regrets. (bahala na)

I think that can be applied to my current standing in life. No worries, no regrets...back to that No Mind thing again >_<

Book Buying List:

Jhumpa Lahiri --Interpreter of Maladies
Robert Jordan --Crossroads of Twilight

I'll probably find Ms. Lahiri's beautiful work in Fully Booked. A friend compared her work to a favorite dish that you can eat again and again since she liked rereading it again and again...very interesting.

Forgive me if I go on and on about singlehood. Its a new state for me. (I've been in a relationship for 6 years) Am still getting used to the fact. Need to make new friends.

And yes I'm very snotty. And very picky.

Free your mind.

...and the rest will follow. (No mind dammit)

GIRLFRIEND IN A COMA

I just like that song by the Smiths. And although I was in a comatose state (slept for 12 hours), I am most definitely not girlfriend material. =P Queer eyes for the straight guy. =P

--"So how was your day?" I dont know how to reply to that once I realized that most of it was spent sleeping or at work. Kinda sad really if you think about it. It just emphasizes the "worker drone" mentality i've been having lately. I should go out more.

Mental Note: Must get me a movie watching barkada or partner. Even though I've watched movies all by myself it just doesnt feel right anymore. I have this need to discuss the film immediately afterwards.

Take Flight

Too many things to do...too little time. I need to watch 21 grams (just for Benicio-he rocks) its from the director of Amores Perros (dog love) the cool spanish film I saw a few years back. Great Story. Great concept. They say everyone looses 21 grams when they die. Does that mean our souls weigh 21 grams? Spirituality has weight.

Recieved 2 more CDs of college A Cappella songs. I think that pretty much covers the soundtrack for the week. ^_^

I have this sudden urge to do something. Bungee jumping or Wall Climbing. Don't really know why. I have this mental image of the main character from 8 1/2 in the opening scene. (This was apparently copied by REM in their MTV "Everybody Hurts"). Crowded traffic scene, stiffling claustrophobic atmosphere not a single car moving in the gridlock. One person rolls down his car window and runs off to the fields. Suddenly he is flying. He is free. Until you notice that his feet are tied with string and a little boy is flying him like a kite. Great scene.

I guess you just had to be there. =P

Distractions and Bothers

Everybody I know has at least 1 hobby or something to amuse themselves with. Had an excellent conversation with my old college buddies on the subject of keeping one's self busy. Are we truly a generation of aimless, directionless bums? If you think about it, people working in call centers or those taking up masterals are really just filling up time. If you wanted to DO something, you'd already be doing it.

Thank God for bothers ^_^

Taking things one step at a time. Patience is a virgin.

Sensory Overload

Currently listening to a fantastic compilation of Dave Matthew's songs sung by several
College A Cappella groups (it really sounds awesome!)

Watched several films (including a documentary I was dragged to in Ateneo), finished at least 4-5 novels
and shopped for a new wardrobe....whew. Its been a busy month.

NO MIND

Time to be Zen and enjoy the moment just as it is. Savor every feeling and sensation.
Eat drink and be merry...ah yes. Self-Indulgence strikes again.
My first post: (test run)

You're The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe!

by C.S. Lewis

You were just looking for some decent clothes when everything changed
quite dramatically. For the better or for the worse, it is still hard to tell. Now it
seems like winter will never end and you feel cursed. Soon there will be an epic
struggle between two forces in your life and you are very concerned about a betrayal
that could turn the balance. If this makes it sound like you're re-enacting Christian
theological events, that may or may not be coincidence. When in doubt, put your trust
in zoo animals.
